Brand new flavor in your ear!
A Part of the "Watch Out For Your N's" Series

N.A.S.T.Y.

(Naughtiness Accumulates Sickness To You!)

"Hey! Who's that thinkin' nasty thoughts? Nasty boys!

Who's that in that nasty car? Nasty boys!

Who's that eatin' that nasty food? Nasty boys!

Who's jammin' to my nasty groove? Nasty boys!"

Those are the lyrics to one of my favorite songs as a child Janet Jackson’s "Nasty". Believe it or not according to the Holy Bible being nasty is a sin. And leads to a variety of other unwanted vices. Like the old saying goes, "Cleanliness is next to Godliness", so having that in mind nastiness is next to or akin to satanic or evil. The bible refers to nastiness this way…

"But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God."– Ephesians 5:3-5

So in other words just like the song (NASTY) says watch what you say, watch what you do and watch where you be! And more importantly just like the first line of the song, "watch out" for what you think. Let me bring to your remembrance another faithful old saying "An idol mind is the devils workshop". Which means your thought life is very important. Constantly mulling over something over and over again is a negative form of meditation. Therefore you will draw negative energy or forces to yourself. And cause negative actions and reactions from yourself. In other words you will begin to display bad behavior. Which leads to isolation, rejection, depression and possible detention, in addition to a number of other mental health and physical health problems.

Use the good side of the force - Faith! Heb. 11:1

Take the initiative to actively pursue the good side of the force. That is exercising your faith by simply committing to change your mind. Change negative thinking by replacing those thoughts with right ones. Meditate on the word of God.  Thinking about scriptures is an easy way to replace stinkin' thinkn'.  Taking the scriptures into your mind is like food for the soul.   That brings us to faithful saying number 3: "You are what you eat" as well as "you are what you think" What you digest weather into your body or what you take in mentally can affect you physically. Poorly prepared food or spoiled food will make you ill. So it is with you mind and spirit taking in evil will make you socially ill. This ill behavior is also described as Naughty.

Naughty - Behaving disobediently or mischievously: a naughty child. Indecent; improper: a naughty wink. Archaic. Wicked; immoral.

Naught - Nonexistent. Insignificant.

What some would venture to say is cute or innocent is just plan ol’ malicious, wicked. Some have trouble identifying ill behavior because they do what they feel. They "feel" that if they do not take the initiative to learn the difference between right and wrong they will be innocent. (That's more like clueless.)  However on the contrary  what will happen is that they will be naughty. What is truth may be different from what you "feel." Take the devil for example he thinks it’s cute to embarrass and humiliate or worse yet kill someone and send them to hell. To him it is just a thing. The bible describes that thing as malicious. I Peter 2:16 says it this way:

"As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God."

This is a warning not to use your freedom as a tool to inflict hurt or harm to others for your own self-gratification. Because plain and simple, that’s nasty baby. Remember, "Along with freedom comes responsibility."

The Apostle Paul says in I Corinthians 13:11

"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

The interpretation of this is that maturity is a choice. That choice is often made and should be made during childhood. Quit waiting for the ray of light or a feeling to hit you. You must decide that in order to be whole you will do what is right.

So what I am saying is that uncleanness is indeed something that is corrected in the life of a human being during childhood. That is why some mistake their naughtiness for innocence. But in actuality they come off as being childish.

It's not as hard as you've been lead to think.  Simply change your mind.  For example many struggle with fatherhood.  Their complaint is that they've had no examples.  But honestly, truthfully, and simply so Bill Cosby and Ward Cleaver thats it!  Just choose to be a good father like that!  Honestly!

So how do you identify good thought patterns or how do you differentiate between the two? So that you can make that change.

I strongly encourage you to thoroughly study:

Ephesians chapter 5

I Corinthians chapter 6

Galatians 5: 19-26

Please note that in I Corinthians chapter 6 it talks about going before the law and court, what you eat, as well as social behavior. It even discusses how a husband and wife should treat each other. There is nothing worse that coming home to a nasty spouse and a nasty house! Also note that in I Corinthians 6:11 it says that when you accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior you are made clean, sanctified, and justified by faith. However it is pointed out in verse 19 that your body is now a temple, and you must diligently keep it clean. Yes you. Not some big ray of light. But you must actively keep your temple from being defiled; your temple encompasses your total being - your mind, soul and spirit in your earth suit (your physical body). So don’t try to leave anything out. Don’t think that you can repeatedly practice something foul in your body then get clean in your spirit by going to church on Sunday. "Naught!"  Again that's premeditated maliciousness.  Note the word premeditated has the word meditation in it.  Its your potty mind!  And again, that's nasty baby!  God gets offended by lukewarm or sometimey behavior.

So yes it is important to be clean and sanctified. The old folks used to say:

"Some folks so spoiled they can’t even clean they own behind! They startin' to smell their own musk!"

That’s a cleaver way of saying: 1) your poor behavior is detected by all who see you, just like foul B.O. (Body Odor), when you enter a room full of people. 2) It also refers to actual B.O. Those things are an indication of either childhood neglect, poor child rearing, or just plain ol’ naughtiness, what the old folks used to call hardheaded. Just wouldn’t learn so now they are childish, rude, crude, just plain ol" funky! Funky in their attitude as well as in their bodies, mouth, etc. Nasty! So remember to study those chapters to identify naughtiness or nasty behavior and also to identify the good behaviors to replace those wicked things with.

*Another mental health note:

This wisdom is also found in the writings of the Great King Solomon and it reads:

"He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls."- Proverbs 25:28

King Solomon is saying that you must decide to take control of yourself. Instead of being naughty or hardheaded, waiting on someone else or for that tragic situation to discipline you . That's foolish!  You may be so mentally unprepared for tragedy that you totally loose your mind. Won’t even have a mind to care any more.  Reprobate.

You may also want to check your attitude in Matthew Chapter 5, a chapter known as the Beatitudes aka the Attitudes to be in (eubonics) or Having the Right Attitude (modern english).  Avoid having a nasty attitude.

Therefore to recapitulate and conclude we remind you to avoid naughtiness.  It is a malicious deceiver cloaking itself as joy, peace, and righteousness.  It emulates those blessings from God's spirit because initially it makes you "feel" good it gratifies your sin nature.  But the end result is not worth it.  When we should be gloryfing God.  We have stated that this sickness affects you in these three ways:

1)   Physically - for example the physical act of taking drugs leads to drug related complications like dead brain cells, retardation.  Smoking related complications cancers, ephasema. Laziness results in poverty, poor waste managements, poor personal hygene, etc.  All of which lead to a variety of diseases and environmental hazards.  Unlawful sex leads to STDs, unwatned pregnancies etc.  Stress related complications strokes, migranes etc. So on and so forth.

2)  Mentaly Illness-  poor stress managment, anxietiy, hearing voices, extremely poor judgment, schizophrenia, brain malfunctions all of which may lead to loss of control of body functions and a variety of other physical health complications.

3)  Spiritual Illness -  often refered to as sin sickness. The number of "bad" things that you allow yourself to venture into weighs you down until you are unable to desire God's saving power to rescue you from drowning in the sea of sin.

It is our belief that the sin sickness results in the mental illness and physical health problems mentioned before.  This is the root cause of all social ills.

The Apostle Paul says in Hebrews 12:1-2 "Wherefore let us lay aside every weight and sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run the with patience, the race thats set before us looking unto Jesus the Author and the Finisher of our Faith.  Who for the joy set before him endured the cross, despising the shame....

So this is a good lesson for pentecostals who want to be rapture ready!  When God raptures the church if you are weighted down with to much naughtiness, you will be left behind.  We strive to achieve holiness for the purpose of being taken to his glorious heavenly kingdom.  Which is the prize at the end of the race.

So when your in doubt about what you should say and do, remember the last verse of Janet Jackson’s "Nasty" and you will change your tune!

"Oh you nasty boys, don't mean a thing to me!"

That means they come to naught. (Which again means nothingness or vanity)
